Gas lock with shut-off valve for welding, stainless steel
Usability
Vessels that rarely need to be evacuated, vacuum-insulated containers for liquid gas and pipes that are to be filled with pure gases. The latter must be evacuated beforehand to allow the filling gas to enter while excluding atmospheric air.
It is often necessary not only to be able to seal containers that are under vacuum or filled with gas, but also to be able to re-evacuate them. Of course, any good high-vacuum valve would be suitable for this purpose. However, this valve must remain on the evacuated or gas-filled container after disconnection from the pump or filling gas line and must also be secured against unintentional opening. The sealing valve is similar to a small flange with a pipe attachment, in which the sealing piece (the actual sealing valve) hermetically seals the container or line as a vacuum valve and overpressure protection. A gas lock is required to operate the shut-off valve, which is separated from the small flange after the pumping process or gas filling has been completed.
